"Light of Hope"

Sam was selected from the entire 5th grade at his school to represent their school at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Lights of Hope Celebration.  I wanted to share what his teacher said about him on the application:

    "Sam is a delightful young man who truly understands what it means to give to others and to be a 'Light of Hope'.  In the classroom Sam is a true friend to everyone around him.  He always has a positive word to share with someone else and a smile to give.  I believe that he is truly baffled that not everyone treats others in this way.
     During a recent morning meeting a discussion was had about Random Acts of Kindness.  Sam began to describe the things that he and his family do to help others.  One that sticks out in my mind was when he discussed putting jokes on all the car windshields at the local courthouse, because as he says, 'If you're at the courthouse, you're probably not having a very good day and need a laugh!'  He also described putting pages of stamps around the post office with signs that say 'Take one if you need it.'  Both of these are great examples of small acts that could have made a huge difference in someone's life.  Sam is extremely proud of these things that he does and goes out of his way to make others feel good about themselves.  I believe that is why he is a wonderful representative for the Short Pump Elementary 'Light of Hope'."

Wow!  Way to go, Sam!  Keep up the good work!!
